Santa Cruz Community Library
The Santa Cruz Community Library officially opened its doors on April 1, 2009, serving the Santa Cruz community under the leadership of its first Community Librarian, Mr. Alfredo Mes. At that time, the library operated one hour per day, Monday through Friday, offering daily story reading sessions for its 23 young members.
In 2010, following Mr. Mes’s departure, Mr. Timoteo Sho joined the Belize National Library Service and Information System (BNLSIS) team as the new Community Librarian. Due to the library’s growth and the increasing demand for its services, opening hours were extended to 29 hours per week in September 2014, with membership rising to 191 members.
In 2016, the library received a donation of a small solar panel, enhancing its operational capacity. Later, in 2023, Mr. Sho moved on, and Ms. Kenia Cal joined BNLSIS as the new Community Librarian at the Santa Cruz Community Library.
