Caribbean Search

Description

Caribbean Search is a multidisciplinary database that provides a comprehensive guide to English-language articles pertinent to the countries and people of the Caribbean region. The collection contains over 730 Caribbean focused scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, reports and reference books making this the largest collection of full text content available to academic, school and public libraries in the region. This database is updated weekly on EBSCOhost.

CARPHA

Description

The EvIDeNCe Portal is a continuously updated repository of research, syntheses and Caribbean policy-relevant documents. The Portal includes clinical, population health and health systems research but excludes basic/biomedical research. The types of syntheses included are evidence briefs for policy, rapid syntheses, overviews of systematic reviews, systematic reviews and economic evaluations. The policy relevant documents originate from the CARPHA, CARPHA Member States and the World Health Organization. The EvIDeNCe portal also includes a guided overview of sources of Caribbean data, pre-appraised research evidence and other types of information, tools, resources and training material to support evidence-informed decision-making.

Digital Library of the Caribbean

Description

The Belize National Library Service and Information System (BNLSIS), through its National Heritage Library, contributes to the Digital Library of the Caribbean project from its small but diverse collection, including maps, postcards, rare books, newspapers and stamps.

Mapeo

Description

A database of around 1500 organizations. The main objective of Mapeo is to promote mutual knowledge between different entities (universities, research centres, non-profit organisations, international organisations, SME´s, governmental entities/agencies, individual researchers and post-graduated students) from Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union. It is a tool to promote possible alliances and synergies in thematic areas relevant to the bi-regional partnership.

Virtual Health Library

Description

The Virtual Health Library (VHL) was established in 1998 as a model, strategy and operating platform for technical cooperation of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) for management of health information and knowledge in the LA&C Region.

The VHL is a Network of Networks built collectively and coordinated by BIREME. It is developed, by principle, in a decentralized manner by national instances (Argentina VHL, Brazil VHL etc.) and thematic networks of institutions related to research, education and health services (Nursing VHL, VHL Ministry of Health etc.).

Virtual Library [The European Union-Latin America and the Caribbean Foundation (EU-LAC)]

Description

The Digital Library is a repository for knowledge on EU-LAC relations, mostly since 1999 when the bi-regional Partnership was formally launched. However, it also holds some older key documents. It offers a one-stop facility for researchers and others wanting to find out more about the bi-regional partnership and the topics discussed within it. The Digital Library contains:

  • Articles and other academic publications
  • Bibliographical references
  • Summit Declarations and Action Plans resulting from the bi-regional EU-LAC Summit
