The Maskall Community Library has a long history of community collaboration and dedication to literacy. It was reestablished around 1994 with the support of several key partners, including Village Council Chairman Mr. Anthony Vaccaro, the Belize National Library Service, Principal Mr. John Giron, and the Canadian Organization for Development through Education (CODE). During this period of renewal, it was recommended that the library operate from the Road Foreman’s Quarters, providing the village with a functional space for reading and educational activities.
A significant milestone was reached on August 28, 2014, when the library was officially inaugurated at its current location, on the site of the former Public Works building. The new facility is a sturdy bungalow-style cement structure that can accommodate approximately 20 people, offering a more permanent and comfortable environment for library users. This development was made possible through the continued support of the Government of Belize (Ministry of Education) and the Belize National Library Service and Information System, reflecting a sustained commitment to improving access to educational resources in Maskall.
Today, the library continues to serve as an important community space, supporting students, families, and residents of all ages. Ms. Latisha Anthony currently serves as the Community Librarian.
